The Finca Berna Tica - is located in the farmers' village "Rincón de Cacao de Alajuela", only 25 minutes from the international airport Juan Santamaría San José. Although the airport is called "San José", it is near the city of Alajuela. Our two guest houses are in the middle of a 1.2 hectare tropical garden and have bright, friendly rooms. There is also a pool and a restaurant.

This is the ideal spot to start6 your trip in Costa Rica. We arrange your transfer from the airport, arrange a rental car, etc. while you are recoverring at the pool from your long flight.

A bus stop in front of our hotel goes about every 45 minutes directly into the center of Alajuela.

And if you want to relax a bit more at the end of your trip ... we are always here for you.

Gottfried and Dora Schenk - two Swiss, living in Costa Rica since 1999 - and their friendly costarican staff wish a wery warm welcome to you! The hot water is produced by using solar energy. The sun shines sufficiently, i.e., you need not take a cold shower.

Hungry - is something you need not be at our place..

In the morning, a substantial breakfast buffet with fresh tropical fruits, homemade jam, cheese, cold cuts, juice, local coffee and ..... is served in a nice and casual atmosphere..

In the evening, we cook a full-course menu for our guests - on request we prepare a barbecue buffet with different kinds of meat, salads and delicious costarican specialities.

Tours and excursions - are organiced every day from Berna Tica. Two majestic volcanoes, a snake farm, hiking areas and lots more are nearby. We would be glad organise your tour!
